Dollars for Dirt - March 2018
Each month, we select three groups who are doing excellent things in MTB in Australia. We put $600 on the table, and we ask our customers to vote to decide who gets the funds. Each group gets at least $150, but the group with the highest votes at the end of the month scores $300!
Check out the groups for March 2018:
MTB Melbourne (VIC)
"MTB Melbourne is a mountain bike club catering for group for social MTB rides in the Melbourne area, our rides explore lesser known trails in a social and welcoming environment. We also provide race support to our members at local races and events across Victoria."
Dubbo Mountain Bike Club (NSW)
"Dubbo MTB Club - we're an inclusive, welcoming group of diverse MTBers that love getting out on the track and riding our MTBs. We have a vibrant racing season called the Super Series which runs from August to April with 28 Races all up made up of 9 long format 2 & 3 hour races which are held on one weekend per month during the series and 19 mid week races which are 1 hour long races held every week during the series after daylight savings commences. The race series is based on a handicap system so everyone gets a turn at coming across the line first and the awards given at the end of the year for A, B & C grades are based on how riders improved across the season against their own times. We aim to cater for experienced riders and for those first starting out and finding their way and we hold intro sessions during the year to introduce people to our trails and to try and attract new riders to the sport. We are constantly looking at ways to improve both our trails and race series and a $300 donation would go towards the purchase of a race timer clock to improve the experience at our club and interclub events."
Esperance Mountain Bike Association (WA)
"We are just a small group of riders who dedicate our spare time to maintain 15kms of trails for local bike riders and holiday visitors to enjoy. As Esperance is a hot spot for holidays, we get many visitors to town and often have riders out at the Mountain Bike Park. We are wanting to put up a new MTB park map as we have extended our trails and put in direction signs."
