Dollars For Dirt - October 2017

Dollars For Dirt

Each month, we select three groups who are doing excellent things in MTB in Australia. We put $600 on the table, and we ask our customers to vote to decide who gets the funds. Each group gets at least $150, but the group with the highest votes at the end of the month scores $300!

Forrest MTB & Cycling Club (VIC)

"We are a small club in Forrest Victoria,we mostly ride MTB,every Thursday night we meet at the local brewery in Forrest & ride the many single track trails around the area then have a meal & drink at the brewery. We also organise the occasional fun ride on a weekend where we might ride down to the coast on fire trails and gravel roads through the beutiful Otway ranges. We help to maintain the 60km plus of single trails with DELWP so this money would go to tools or material to help with that."

Wollongong Mountain Bike Club (NSW)

"WMBC run local club races for DownHill, All Mountain (Enduro) and X Country, each 3 times during the year and riders come from everywhere. We also run our Club Championships known as EastCoast Titles where people come from everywhere to ride. The club would put a donation towards a new timing system that we are currently looking at."

Gladstone MTB (QLD)

"Our club started two years ago with a five hundred acre plot of land that we've leased in the local state forest. We started with a couple of tracks scratched through the bush, and slowely but surely we are building an extensive trail network. We have had a couple of runs professionally built, but the majority come through the hard graft of club members passionate about the sport and keen on trails they like to ride. Our club is constantly growing as members of the public discover what we have to offer. We had our first cross country in march 2016, and this year we are holding six events in both gravity and xc disciplines as part of interclub championship with rockhampton. Our main event this year was the daynight six hour xc which was held on july 29th with nearly 60 entries. Any help we can get to continue to grow are fledgling club would be greatly appreciated and put to good use. Machine hire is something that i would be keen on (for track building). We could also use track signage, carpark upgrade, trail building equipment, time keeping equipment the list goes on and on really."
