There are lots of fast XC tyres available today. However, if you ride aggressively, you'll probably find that they don't offer the grip you need.
The Maxxis Forekaster was specifically designed for aggressive XC riders. With its mid-height knobs and wide spacing, the Forekaster offers better grip and braking while providing good mud clearance. Suitable for front and rear use. Now also available in the mid plus 2.6 Inch size
Least favourite feature? Not good as a front tyre in mud.
Predictable and fast rolling trail tyre
I've been running this on the front in 27.5x2.35 on an FSR Stumpjumper. Mounted and sealed up easily on 30mm TR rims. 2.35 EXO Dual. It started off around 2.3 but has grown to 2.35. Looks kind of round but I've found it to bite in well on loose dry terrain and to be very predictable. Doesn't like soft mud as a front tyre. Zero flats or cuts. I've run it on the rear over winter and it rolls well but climbing grip isn't stellar. I'd buy another one.
