All big rides are not created equal, and so there’s no one size fits all approach to staying fuelled and hydrated when you’re out on a ride. You need to consider how long you’ll be out, the type of riding ...
Meet the team that makes Mountain Bikes Direct tick!
Manager / Chief Rider
Before working at Mountain Bikes Direct, I was the website and general tech go-to guy at ForTheRiders. Now I'm managing Mountain Bikes Direct - picking new lines, improving systems, crunching numbers and coming up with new ways to try and get our brand out there! I'm also often in the customer service seat, so I've had a chance to talk, chat and email with many of you!
I'm a Brisbane boy but I'm loving it here on the Gold Coast, with the warehouse a short ride away from the MTB trails at Nerang (the roughest in SEQLD!) and living near the beach. Although I could definitely be talked into living in Whistler or Queenstown.... chairlift access MTB, awesome trails everywhere, and snowboarding in winter, too! When I'm not working, I could be riding, spending time with my wife and daughter, running our church youth group, or getting out on the water in my Thundercat!
Order Packing Guru
I've been with Mountain Bikes Direct for over a year, and my main role is to pick, pack and dispatch orders. I also support the stock team with keeping the warehouse in order and the shelves brimming with awesome MTB product!
Before working here, I was in the travel industry... and I'm pretty stoked to now be in an industry I love and always aspired to work in! I get to see all the new products as they come out, talk MTB and get out on the team rides each week.
When I'm not at work, I'm out on the bike or hanging out with my lovely wife Jess :) I love living here in Australia, though if I were to live overseas it'd be NZ - it's still a short flight away from family and similar in a lot of ways to Aus....plus the riding over there looks amazing!!!
Projects & Other Stuff
I've been with Mountain Bikes Direct from the start, and have had a hand in various projects over that time. I love the variety of projects I work on! At the moment I produce our regular newsletters and website content, as well as overseeing a few tech projects.
I've been lucky enough to mountain bike in some really cool places around the world, from bike parks in Morzine and Whistler, to offroad treks in Nepal!
I'm in the warehouse (more specifically, the really cold upstairs office!) a few days a week, which leaves me time with my young daughter and husband, catching up with friends and family, working on my final few subjects of a Masters in Community Development, and involvement in a few different community projects.
Senior Tech Project Dude
Before joining Mountain Bikes Direct, I was a network admin at the Brisbane City Council. Now I get to skip the commute and spend more time with my kids, and riding my bike every little break I get! I work on a range of technical and business improvement projects.
I consider everyone I work with here at Mountain Bikes Direct a close friend, and I love the way I can balance work and lifestyle - though it's hard not to buy every cool new piece of mtb gear that arrives here on a daily basis!
Born in Brazil, I chose to live here on the Gold Coast after travelling heaps when I was younger, and I wouldn't swap it for anywhere, you can't beat the awesome weather all year round!
Organisation and Numbers
I'm originally from the UK, and have been in Australia now for 9 years. I tried life in Sydney, working for the University of Sydney, but I'm loving life here on the Gold Coast - hopefully I'm here for good!
I work with a great bunch of people here, and I enjoy getting all the orders out on time for our loyal customers. The only thing I don't enjoy about working here is the extreme temperature changes in the warehouse - oh and the choice of music in the packing room!!
When I'm not at work, I'm busy with my two gorgeous girls and whipping up tasty treats for my family... and if they're lucky, the team here at Mountain Bikes Direct! If I could do anything, it would be learn to ski... hopefully my next winter holiday!
