Description

Experiencing poor shifting? Check your chain!

Typically, manufacturers will recommend replacing your chain before your cassette. This helps extend drivetrain life and improve shifting performance. Thankfully, the CC-2 Chain Wear Tool is an extremely easy way to check when your chain needs replacing. All you have to do is insert the tools pins into two links and look at the gauge.

  • 9 and 10-speed chains will need to be replaced when the .75% side fits.
  • 11 and 12-speed chains should be replaced when the .5% side fits.

Please note: Failure to replace a worn chain will accelerate wear on other components, once this happens, you may need to replace your cassette as well

A must have tool for bike maintenance..

Having checked out a few different Chain Wear Checkers, I decided to drop on the Park Tool CC-2 model.

I have found that Park Tool's quality overall has always been excellent and there is no second guessing with the CC-2.

Place the two pins onto the chain, press the lever until it stops, read the result through the window and refer to the chart on the tool to see if the measurement falls between the recommended wear and chain type.

    Highly recommended bit of kit.
