A completely new brake, with the class leading S4 4 piston caliper. It's lighter, more powerful, easier to bleed and has better heat management. All this results in a brake that delivers consistently precise stopping power, first time, every time.
There's a lot of Tech crammed into this brake, here are our favourites
Contact Point Adjustment - This allows you to quickly and easily adjust how much lever throw the brake has, before the pads contact the rotor. Combine this with the reach adjuster and you can set it up to feel exactly the way you want, without tools.
DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid - Takes about 3 times longer to boil up than DOT 4 fluid.
Heat Shield - A stainless steel heat shield between the pad and caliper body to reduce caliper temperatures by around 20 degrees celsius.
Lever Pivot Bearings - The carbon fibre lever on the Guide ultimate swings on 2 sealed bearings. No more sloppy levers!
MatchMaker and MMX compatible - Combine the Guide Ultimates with a shifter or reverb and mount of just one clamp. Nifty!
Amidextrous Lever - With the piggy back reservoir, you can run the front brake on whichever side you like!
SwingLink - A very smart design that allows the pads to sit further away from the rotor, for better clearance. As the lever is squeezed, the pads move in faster initially to close this bigger spacing. Sram have managed to do this using a cam shaped link that means there is no loss of modulation once the pads do connect. More power, more modulation.
Timing Port Closure. There is a small port between the reservoir and the master cylinder. Every time you squeeze a brake lever, a seal has to pass over this port . With the Guide Ultimate, Sram have managed to create an ultra smooth bore in the master cyclinder, so there is no chance of the seal getting damaged.
Bleeding Edge - A new system of bleeding that ensures there is no fluid loss during connecting and disconnecting. Much cleaner to bleed.
